Smoothies are one of my favourite snacks and this green mango smoothie is a great way to get loads of goodness in in one glass! With spinach, mango, banana, almond milk and collagen powder (if wanted), it is absolutely loaded with nutrients. The spinach and mango are packed with vitamin C, the spinach also provides lots of folate, while the bananas provide a wealth of potassium. Add in some collagen for a protein boost and you have a green elixir of goodness! Plus, you cannot taste the greens at all!
As a nutritionist, I never recommend smoothies as a breakfast or lunch option. They simply are not a complete meal and are nowhere near filling enough for a full meal! However, they make a wonderful snack and are a great way to get lots of fruits and veggies in for people who struggle to eat them. They can also be a great post-workout refuel if you make sure to add some sort of protein powder in there.
The Best Smoothie Equipment
In the smoothie field, having good equipment makes a big difference! I recently upgraded my blender and oh my gosh it has made my life so much easier! My old blender could not handle blending frozen fruit or ice and was a pain to clean which just is not ideal for making nice smoothies. Our new blender whizzes through frozen fruit in seconds and I can just pop the jugs in the dishwasher. I also love to drink my smoothies out of mason jars with a straw – I use metal straws because they are great for the environment and pretty cute for photos. Here are my supplies:
